I hope everyone enjoyed their Super Bowl day! Congratulations to the Denver Broncos who were led by their incredible defensive efforts.
We return to regular activity today and that means the return of NBA Daily Fantasy on Moneyball.
Derrick Rose – $6,300
Derrick Rose has been straight fire lately without Jimmy Butler on the team. His usage rate has boosted from 26.6 with Butler to a massive 33.7 without him. Jump on board. Rose is averaging 36.6 over his last five games, jump on now against the Hornets!
Archie Goodwin – $4,700
With Brandon Knight missing games for the Phoenix Suns, Archie Goodwin has been the man running the point, and will continue to do so up until the All-Star Break. He’s not playing incredible basketball by any means, but he’s getting close to 36-38 minutes a game which is allowing him to return over 5x value.
Kobe Bryant – $6,300
Speaking of guys with a massive usage rate, Kobe Bryant has a 37.4 usage rate over his last five games! That’s ridiculous, and it makes him an excellent option to consider for DFS because he is shooting the ball at least 20 times a game recently.
J.R. Smith – $5,200
J.R. Smith has suddenly become a somewhat reliable and consistent fantasy option under new Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue. With Lue, Smith is taking an additional 2.6 field goal attempts per game and is shooting at a much better rate from deep (46% 3PT last 10).
Nicolas Batum – $6,600
This is a tough one because Batum’s recent form could just be an outlier, especially since he had struggled after his injury in early January. I don’t think it is an outlier, but rather a reflection of his increased role and output this season at the Hornets, again, and like earlier in the season he should bounce back to scoring 30+ regularly.
Robert Covington – $5,100
Just as Robert Covington started to hit some consistent form (no score under 20 points in 9 games), he had to come out and disappoint us all with 13.2 and 5.8 performances. The slump might have been just temporary, because he was back to his ways against the Nets in his last game, scoring 24.1 fantasy points.
Thaddeus Young – $6,800
Thaddeus Young started the season as one of the mots consistent and productive selections at the power forward position but dropped off recently because his rebounding had regressed. He has grabbed 38 rebounds in his last three games, however, and it’s starting to make him a fantastic fantasy selection again.
Markieff Morris – $5,200
Markieff Morris is the new focus of the Phoenix Suns offense, and it is immediately paying dividends for fantasy owners. His minutes, shot attempts, and usage rate have all increased, and he is starting to look like an exceptional teammate at the Suns as well. Markieff has definitely enjoyed the change and is averaging 32.7 fantasy points over his last five games.
Gorgui Dieng – $6,100
Gorgui Dieng is coming off a huge game in which he managed 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists against the Bulls. He’s been getting plenty of minutes recently and has returned over 6x value in five of his last six games.
Myles Turner – $5,400
If you’ve seen Myles Turner play, this selection is even more tempting. He has beautiful touch around the rim and is getting plenty of opportunity in the Pacers offense. He’s a guy with massive upside but has also shown a nice floor – his lowest score in 11 games is 21.4 fantasy points.
