Happy Monday Moneyballers! Hope the fantasy gods were smiling on your teams this week. If so, keep the streak going and if not then there’s one more chance to recoup your losses with Monday night football. This Monday sees the Canberra Raiders charge into Belmore to try and pillage some points of the Bulldogs.
The dogs had a huge win over the Bunnies last week and coach Des Hasler will want another dose of the same this week. Much of the Dogs play has been off the back of their barnstorming forward pack. Blokes like James Graham (7,600), Sam Kasiano ($5,500) and Josh Jackson ($7,200) are just bashing their opposition into submission.
The Raiders choked against the Titans last week, no other way to say it. Up 20-6 the men in green had it in the bag and then suddenly they’ve let in 18 unanswered points and staring at defeat. The Canberra team welcome back star halves pairing and the possible NSW origin halves Blake Austin ($7,000) and Aidan Sezer ($6,700), which should help spark Ricky Stuart’s team back to their winning ways.
Josh Papalii ($8,000)
The Raider wrecking ball has been killing it so far this season, crossing for three tries down the left edge including a double against the Roosters. The hulking forward looks fitter and stronger than he has the last few years and Stuart is now using him as an 80-minute player. Fear not however, Papalii’s extra minutes haven’t effected his power game, he still lays on some crunching hits and is back to the damaging best that saw him become a force for Queensland and Australia.
Josh Hodgson (7,300)
The pommy Raider has been one of the best players in the NRL so far this year, holding a four-point lead at the top of the Dally M leader board. The hooker has carried the Raiders attacking game with aplomb while Sezer and Austin have been out injured, the ball he gave to put English compatriot Elliot Whitehead ($7,700) over against the Titans shows his playmaking class. Hodgson is leading the comp with two 40/20’s and has three try assists and is averaging 30 tackles.
Aiden Tolman ($7,500)
Looks like a fitter version of front row partner James Graham and is equally as effective. Tolman doesn’t get the plaudits that teammates Kasiano and Graham receive but the workhorse is still one of the best front rowers in the game right now. The former Storm player averages 125 metres per game and a nearly 30 tackles, which are huge numbers for a man his size.
Sam Perrett ($5,600)
Mr Reliable, Perrett has been a constant threat on the wing for the dogs for five years now. Perrett already this season has four line-breaks, nine tackle busts, two tries and running around 100 metres per game. Perrett is one of those players who you can bank on to produce good numbers week in, week out.
And that’s full time Moneyballers, at least for this week’s tips and preview. Tune in for this game, it’s going to be a belter. Expect some massive hits from two sets of huge forwards. Remember to like, share and comment to let me know who made your starting team. Good luck.
