It was an interesting round for all footy lovers across the country. From upsets to flops and all the way through to big winning margins. Round 17 brought a lot into question and as always some great players and some not so great performances from others. Enjoy mulling over your teams from this week and onto the next.
Dustin Martin $9,000
It was a massive performance from the Tiger midfielder as he smashed some of his personal best’s. In a win over the Bombers he racked up 43 disposals, 2 goals and 4 tackles his hard work is starting to pay off. Martin has been in great form this season and could be in the running for his first Brownlow.
Zach Merrett $9,900
The young Bombers midfielder has been in career best form in the absence of his centre counter parts. It was a tough day to shine with Martin running around also but Merrett accomplished 34 disposals, 10 tackles, 7 marks and a goal to his name. A massive 163Fp to his name as Merrett is only scratching the surface of his potential.
Brodie Grundy $8,500
The big man has been in career best form for the Pies and has elevated himself in the ruck rankings. With 23 disposals, 10 marks, 5 tackles, and 32 hit outs, Grundy capped off the performance with 138Fp. He has a new found hunger for the contest and will make the rest of the year his own.
Ben Griffiths $6,000
Griffiths has struggled in recent years with continuity in his games but if the potential he showed against the Bombers can sustain then he has a bright future. The big forward dominated with 3 goals, 18 disposals, 12 marks and 4 tackles and impressed most as the leading target for Richmond.
James Gwilt $6,400
It was a game to forget for Gwilt as he only managed the 3 disposals and a single mark. The Bombers has required many players to lift for the club and he would have been disappointed with the performance he served up. Against the Lions he will definitely look to bounce back if the Bombers are to get all four points and off the bottom of the ladder.
Ben McEvoy $5,700
The Hawks big fella had trouble in the contest against the Swans ruckman tThursday night and struggled to get into the game. With only the 7 disposals, 2 tackles and 9 hit outs for the game he would have expected more of a dominant performance against Naismith and Sinclair. Against Hampson this week he will need a better performance or he will be run around the ground for all four quarters.
Tom Hawkins $6,300
The big Cat has been out of form in recent weeks and has struggled to clunk the big marks. In a game that could have seen him monster Dawson, he only managed a single goal, 5 tackles, 3 marks and 8 disposals in a win over Fremantle. The Cats would expect more from Hawkins and to bounce back this week in a big clash against the Crows.
Charlie Dixon $5,300
The new Power forward hasn’t had a great 2 weeks and will need to lift in the coming games. In the win over the Roo’s, Dixon did’t manage to hit the scoreboard. He found himself with 5 disposals, 2 marks and 2 tackles and a total of 24Fp come the end of the game.
