As we edge closer to September, each game gets more and more important. The layout of the top 8 is yet to be finalised and this two definitely have a foot in the door for top 4 and a second chance. Geelong coming off a strong opponent in the Crows last week and the Dogs seemly disappointed with a shock loss to St Kilda. These two met during bye rounds not to long ago. Geelong where the far better team and left the dogs star struck. Will it be a repeat or will the depleted Bulldogs show their resilient team spirit as they have all year.
ATM – Mr banker $$$
Hammer – Cant do no wrong
Biscuit – Cheap Cheap Cheap
Biscuit – Tom Hawkins (Geel) $6,300
The big power forward finally found some form last week. Averaging 78 fantasy, 12 touches and 5 marks but 38 goals for the year. Hawkins has been below par for majority of the year stats wise. Last week he bagged 4.1, 12 touches, 5 marks, 6 tackles and a score of 102. With the depleted Dogs defence left without Boyd and Suckling his child be a good chance to bag another haul.
Hammer – Daniel Menzel (Geel) $6,100
Menzel continues to put up reasonable scores for his price tag. Avg just around 80, 15 touches and 5 marks. Menzel has been able to pop up with a few goals of late, last week kicking 4.1 and having 17 touches, 5 marks and 3 tackles scoring 95. With the up and down form of a few other players Menzel has been consistent this season.
Hammer – Mark Blicavs (Geel) $7,600
With no real dominate ruckman to pick, Blicavs is an easy choice. Playing as a midfielder as well, averaging 90 fp, 17 disposals, 4 marks and 6 tackles he’s literally everywhere for the Cats. Last week nothing up 21 touches, 5 marks,4 tackles and 12 H/O with fantasy score of 85. Theres no real ruck combo for the Dogs and all the main run with players will be on Selwood and Dangerfield. Look for Blicavs to get free around the ground all game.
ATM -Lachie Hunter (WB) $9,300
Been waiting a while to have this guy as my banker. He’s a ball magnet, averaging 29 touches and 6 marks, with fantasy score of 110 but has the ability to put up 35+ touches in a game. Last week having 28 touches , 3 marks, 4 tackles ands scoring 99. His previous 4 matches have been up and down but still hitting that 100 mark (99, 112, 90, 127).
Hammer – Jimmy Bartel (Geel) $7,900
The 300 gamer. Bartel has loved his role down back this year, averaging 93 fp, 2 touches, 5 marks and 4 tackles. Bartel was managed the other week and on his comeback game had a lazy 34 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles and scored 115 fp. He will be looking to have a big game in his milestone game. Back the little champ i say.
Biscuit – Clay Smith (WB) $4,800
A cash cow is the term used for Smith. Averaging 88 but form of 94, 16 touches, 4 marks, 6 tackles in just 4 matches. Last week notching up 1.1, 15 touches, 4 marks, 7 tackles and scoring 80 fp. In Smiths first 4 games he’s scored 80, 101, 103 and 71. Not bad for a rookie who’s workload will increase through the injury of Macrae and struggling Liberatore.
Hammer – Corey Enright (Geel) $7,900
Another milestone gamer this time a club record for Geelong. He also has been in great form of late despite his age. form of 104 with avg 24 touches and 6 marks. Last week Enright had 31 disposals, 6 marks and scored 103 fp, the week before scoring 131. There is no one in better form down back and with Henderson back, Enright will have a license to roam free.
Biscuit – Easton Wood(WB) $6,800
Back in good form, scoring 88 of late, 18 touches and 7 marks. The Dogs have been hit yet again more injuries down back. Suckling and Boyd are the latest casualties. Wood ill thrive on this chance to be the main guy down back. I think he has the potential to pluck double digits marks tonight.
DK’s Final Say:
Looking forward to this game. The battle in the middle will be intense, so much class and grunt on both sides. There is a massive price drop from the top players to the fringe players. If you look at the form and averages before hand you can pick a great starting 9. Keep an eye out for other articles as well for tips over the weekend.
