Monday nighty footy this week has served up a battle of past champions fallen from grace with the Rabbitohs taking on the Sea Eagles. Both the Bunnies and the Silvertails have looked like shadows of their former selves this year, languishing to sit 13th and 12th respectively. Luckily for you punters, Moneyball is here to spark up the game offering up over $3K in prizes.
Cody Walker ($8,800)
Walker is living proof that perseverance pays off after finally breaking through to the NRL at the ripe age of 26. The five eighth/fullback had journeyman beginning to his career moving from the Titans to the Panthers, the Storm before finally finding a home at Souths. Making his debut this year, Walker has everyone asking why it took so long? In his short 13 game career so far he has 5 tries, 12 line breaks, 9 try assists, 11 line breaks, 42 tackle busts, 8 offloads and over 100 run metres.
Sam Burgess ($9,300)
Really whom else am I going write about for the Bunnies? Burgess was put on this earth for one reason, to run hard and smash blokes on the footy field and he does it well. Big Sammy is the inspirational backbone for his side and he’s the sort of player teammates want to follow into battle. 3 tries, 2 try assists, 36 offloads, 6 line break assists, 33 tackle busts, averaging over 144 run metres and 31 tackles so to put it simply, having Sam on your team is like taking a gun to knife fight.
Daly Cherry-Evans ($7,300)
DCE can be a world-beater on his day, shredding defences at will and so Manly decided he was worth the big, big money contract. It’s safe to say however that The 27 year old half back hasn’t been his best this year and the pressure on him must be near stifling at this point. Still there’s no denying how important Daly is to the Sea Eagles and his 3 tries, 6 try assists, 4 line break assists, 17 tackle busts, 10 offloads and 21 tackles a game are testament to his value.
Martin Taupau ($7,200)
Marty must have the biggest set of guns in the NRL and if you take just one look at his playing style you can tell they’re not just for show. The hulking back rower doesn’t care who’s in front of him he just has one goal, run straight through them. Taupau’s battle with the Burgess brothers should be an absolute belter and could decide the game. This year the big man has 3 tries, 3 line breaks, 16 offloads, 28 tackle busts and chews up 125 run metres and 24 tackles a game.
