The BBL semi-finals are upon us and it should be a cracker to get us started. The Stars choked away their opportunity of a home final against the Sixers and are still missing some key players to the national team – whereas the Scorchers are much more unscathed and will have the support of The Furnace. We have you sorted with $5k guaranteed – see our BBL fantasy tips below.
Kevin Pietersen – $7,100
Love him or hate him, there’s one thing for certain, Kevin Pietersen has always stood up in big games. He’s a hugely important part of the Stars batting lineup and has made less than thirty just twice in seven innings.
Ian Bell – $3,500
Sticking with the former England international theme – Ian Bell is our next pick. He’s down to bargain basement pricing due to matches where he got a first ball duck and a DNB last match. He’s struggled for runs lately but is extremely talented in the shorter form of the game and he’s definitely due an innings. May also be low owned due to recent failures.
Sam Whiteman – $3,500
He opened the innings for the Scorchers in their last match and despite getting out for just 9 he showed plenty of early intent. If he continues to open – he’s an excellent buy at $3,500. Even if he doesn’t, the only other option is Seb Gotch who hasn’t exactly done much this tournament either.
Marcus Stoinis – $5,700
After missing the Stars last match to not even carry the drinks for the national side, he’s now back with the Stars and will look to continue where he left off. With no James Faulkner or Maxwell he has become an integral part of the Stars lineup, bowling at the death for them and doing so extremely well.
Tim Bresnan – $9,700
Finding the right bowlers is often what makes the difference in these tournaments and Tim Bresnan has been extremely good since signing for the Scorchers. He’s taken 5 wickets in 3 matches at an economy rate of just 6.55. He’s also capable of some handy lower order runs – like he displayed with his 20 off 15 against Melbourne Stars.
Mitchell Johnson – $7,800
Johnson has been incredible form lately with 4 wickets in his last 3 matches. He was outstanding against the Hurricanes, taking 2/15 off his 4 overs and nobody will want to face him as he’s still bowling with some of the speed which made international batsmen scared of him.
