It’s the final day of Round 1 football and it has already brought us lots of twists and turns and some amazing upsets, which just goes to show any team on their day can come away with a big win! There’s over $10,000 in guaranteed AFL prizes on Moneyball today and with so many great options to select from, here are my AFL fantasy tips to hopefully put you in the winners circle as well.
Josh Jenkins – $7,000
Jenkins has just come off one of his best pre-seasons to date, he has said his body is feeling better than ever and has backed up that statement with the way he played through the JLT series. Jenkins spends most of his time up front and is capable of kicking a bag of goals and when he is thrown into the ruck he is one of the most mobile rucks around.
Heath Shaw – $8,300
If i’m being completely honest about Heath Shaw, it’s that he is completely underpriced, he is literally Mr Fantasy Football, he goes out of his way to simply get you fantasy points. He’ll run to receive a handpass from 50 metres away, and he loves kicking the ball. The Giants generally use him to start of their attacks after a switch due to how well he uses that ball.
Curtly Hampton – $3,800
Hampton has quickly found his spot into the Crows best 22, he can run through the midfield as well as come off the halfback line with his pace. Whilst he is still priced at 3.8k his value potential is to great to pass up, he is a great option to save some cash to spend in other areas.
Nat Fyfe – $9,300
It’s shaping up to be another great battle between Fyfe and Dangerfield, the last time these two went head to head properly it was one of the greatest battles in recent history of pure football. Fyfe’s last game in the JLT series showed that he is back to his best and that broken leg incident is definitely in the past.
Andrew Gaff – $8,200
Gaff is playing better than ever, with the inclusion of Sam Mitchell into the Eagles midfield, the ball is shifting out to the outside players so much more and Gaff is reaping the rewards. Gaff has been a consistent scorer for many years now and that doesn’t look like it will be changing anytime soon.
George Horlin-Smith – $4,500
Horlin-Smith has forced his way into the Geelong lineup with some great performances throughout the JLT Series and it finally looks like he’s producing the kind of football he has shown us he’s capable of through the VFL.
Mark Lecras – $7,200
Lecras seems to have found his fire again, he has been running riot within the Eagles forward line, he’s back in goal kicking form and is finding a lot of the ball being one of the links entering the forward line. Lecras is extremely smart and is able to read the play very well, which allows him to get out the back for an easy joe the goose goal.
Devon Smith – $7,000
With a few injuries through the Giants midfield, i’d be expecting Smith to get a bit more of a run through the middle of the ground. He always seems to pop up for a goal or two. Smith is very smart with the ball and his positioning so he always seems to find himself around the action.
