Second week into the season and we are already biting our nails. Some absolute cracking games last week, upsets or just underrated? Here are my AFL fantasy tips for today’s $5,000 Saturday Slam

ATM – Mr reliable

Hammer – Handy pick

Biscuit – Rookie that can come up big

Forwards:

ATM – Josh Kennedy (WC) $7700

Kennedy put his name up for the Coleman from the first bounce, 7 straight goals in round 1 with 16 disposals and 9 marks scoring 125 fp. A nice match up at home against an undersized Saints team could be in for back to back bags of goals.

Hammer – Jack Billings (STK) $7300

Billings produced a handy 75 fp round 1, 20 touches, 3 tackles and a goal. With Riewoldt out for a while Billings may need to spend more time up forward, which means there could be a few more goals to his tally, Billings has no problem finding the ball and added with a handful of goals could be in for a decent score.

Ruck:

Hammer – Jarrod Witts (GC) $5300

Witts has found a new gear at the Suns, with an impressive first hit out scoring 104 fp, 14 touches, 9 tackles and 37 hit outs. I always find going cheap on a ruckman with potential could help you spend more around the rest of the team.

Midfield:

ATM – Dayne Beams (BRIS) $8400

Finally healthy and almost back to his best with a best on ground performance against the Sun’s last weekend racking up 28 touches, 6 tackles and 2 marks scoring 103 fp. A juicy fantasy game against the Bombers could be installed, to be honest any one of the Lions top 3 mids could be in for a day out it’s just choosing which one, I’m backing the new Captain in this week.

Hammer – Matt Crouch (ADEL) $8200

A vital part of the Crows engine room with some notable injuries throughout the team, with Sloane not at his best Crouch has to lift his game, a solid 97 fp 29 touches and 5 tackles in round 1. Verse the Hawks this week will be very contestant and will suit his game style.

Biscuit – Andrew McGrath (ESS) $4600

Very impressive in his first official game of AFL, the number 1 draft pick notched 22 touches, 6 marks and 5 tackles scoring 96 fp. McGrath seems to be thriving at the opportunity to play in this midfield and will only get better.

Defenders:

ATM – Heath Shaw (GWS) $8300

A below par score last week, will definitely look to bounce back against a young Gold Coast team, never seen Shaw play two average games before, still managed 86 fp 23 disposals and 6 marks but we are always use to seeing over 100.

Biscuit – Orazio Fantasia (ESS) $6500

Fantasia is listed as a defender but playing mainly as a forward, he’s a live wire that chimed in for 4 goals, 16 touches and 4 marks scoring 79. I see a lot of potential in him and at a cheap price where you know he’ll be mainly forward where he’s a goal sneak I think he’s definitely a biscuit pick.
