It’s the first good Friday game of football we’ve ever had and i expect we are in for one hell of a battle. The teams will go out there and do their clubs proud on this great day. There is no doubt it will be a hot contest with two very different styles of play. The dogs love to run and spread, whilst the roos love the contested ball on the inside, it’s looking to be a great day for fantasy. So here are our AFL fantasy tips for Good Friday footy!
Braydon Preuss – $6,800
Preuss has quickly become a cult hero to the Kangaroos faithful, he has one of the biggest bodies going around and loves tackling thanks to his NRL background. With Goldy being managed and mainly playing through the forward line Preuss has taken the #1 Ruck mantle at the Roos in style, scoring the ton in 2 consecutive games.
Matthew Suckling – $7,200
Suckling is quickly taking in the roll of being the creator out of the dogs backline because of the way he can distribute the ball using that left boot of his. Because of this the dogs do look for Suckling a fair bit coming out of their backline. It’s looking to be a hot contest and each teams backline should be able to gain a lot of possessions of rushed kicks forwards.
Robbie Tarrant – $6,600
Tarrant deserves to be in the All-Australian squad at the end of the year with the way he is playing to start the season. Tarrant is one of the greatest backmen in the competition and places himself in the perfect position to stop his opponent just about every time. He’s able to pick off a few intercept marks and is generally used to set up plays out of their backline.
Marcus Bontempelli – $9,600
Many people are tipping Bontempelli to win a brownlow before the end of his career, this does not surprise me one bit with the way this young lad plays AFL. He reminds me of a yound Scott Pendlebury. Someone who seems they are slowly loping around the ground but are simply playing like they have all the time in the world as they somehow find pockets of space, Bontempelli also seems to get onto the scoreboard quite regularly.
Josh Dunkley – $7,300
Dunkley comes back into the bulldogs lineup for the first time this season, he was a solid contributor last season for them and i am hoping he can reach those heights again. The man is normally good for an 80 point output at the very minimum, however he does tend to hit the 100’s quite regularly, i admit he’s a bit of a risk but i think the reward will be great. Risk it for the biscuit!
Ben Cunnington – $6,300
Cunnington is one of the the Roos veterans these days, he is an old school tough nut midfielder who tends to gather 20+ possessions every game and lays a fair few tackles to boot. Over the first 3 games to start the season he has averaged 87,5 fantasy points which for his price is a great return.
Shaun Higgins – $7,400
Higgins had a down week last weekend but we will be looking for him to bounce back to his Round 1 and 2 form this weekend in the first good Friday game the competition has seen. Higgins is looking fit and healthy, something we haven’t seen for a few seasons and he is showing us what he can do when his body is feeling good. Higgins has seen extended time through the middle also this season so his scoring potential is enormous.
Taylor Garner – $4,200
Garner has seen himself out on the sidelines for a majority of the time he has been playing on the Kangaroos list. Finally getting a full pre-season into himself he is looking to show the competition what he can do. Garner was the #15 draft pick up in the 2012 draft, which is quite high and generally used on someone who teams believe has great qualities. Looking forward to see Garner get a good run at it this season and cement his spot in the best 22 for the Roos.
