Friday night footy is back with a blockbuster of a match up. I, for one, cannot wait to see if the Hawks can overcome their recent injury troubles against a Swans team who have finally found some form. So sit back relax and here are our fantasy tips for this Friday night matchup.
Ben McEvoy – $8,600
McEvoy has really hit his straps this season, with him now becoming one of the team’s real leaders and role model. He has really stood up as one of the more experienced players on the team. He has been combining really well with Tom Mitchell and has been getting forward to kick a goal or two in recent weeks. I see a big score coming out of him tonight as he will be too big and strong around the ground for the Swans rucks.
Daniel Howe – $6,600
Howe has really stepped up for the Hawks and with their current injury-plagued lineup, he is showing good signs for the Hawks’ future and he can accumulate the ball quite nicely. He has a good set of hands and can take a good contested grab. Not many real standout high scoring defenders in this game but look for Howe to give you a solid score.
Nic Newman – $6,100
Newman has been a revelation down back in the fantasy world so far this season. He has been in and out of the lineup so far this season but with his last 2 performances, it’s going to be real hard to drop him again. He seems to know where to go to just keep accumulating the ball and takes a lot of uncontested marks which really does wonders to his scoring.
Dan Hannebery – $10,000
Hanners had his first beers a few weeks ago and what do you know, he started turning up to his games again and producing the scores we all knew he could. Looking forward to him going head to head with T.Mitchell and seeing who can come out on top. Hannebery is a great ball winner, takes a lot of uncontested marks as he’s always looking to get the ball and also finds himself kicking a goal or two with his hard gut running.
Liam Shiels – $7,800
Shiels is another one of the Hawks team that has stood up so far this season and been a solid contributor. He has great skills using both feet and is quickly becoming one of the Hawks major ball winners. He can be known to completely dominate a game or simply just play a part, but coming up against the Swans in a game they simply have to win. The Hawks and Shiels will be looking for a big game.
James Cousins – $3,500
I have a soft spot for the name Cousins but in saying that, Cousins of the James variety has definitely earned his spot for the games this weekend. He has been in great form through the VFL and picked up 15 tackles last weekend and if he can bring that sort of tackling pressure into his game through the AFL he will be hard to drop. Looking forward to what this youngster can produce out there.
Ryan Burton – $6,400
Burton has been playing in the backline for the Hawks and has been one of their shining lights so far this season. He wins a lot of his own ball and is a great distributor when he gets it. Already being named Rising Star for his Round 2 performance, he has not taken his foot off the gas since and is continually putting in great performances.
Will Hayward – $4,200
Hayward has been solid so far this season for the Swans and is coming off one of his best games so far against the Saints. With the Swans playing better as a team, it looks like the new young players are only benefiting from this and are also really stepping up to show the rest of the team they deserve to be there. Will be looking forward to seeing Hayward back up last week’s performance with another this weekend.
