After a week off we are back with another epic Super Saturday. Today the Panthers take on the Warriors follow by the Storm facing the Titans and to cap it all off the Sea Eagles battle it out against the Broncos. NRL fantasy tips.
Panthers v Warriors
It’s hard to pick the winner when two struggling teams take the field. Either way, it should be a high scoring battle.
Issac Luke ($7,500) and Peter Wallace ($6,400) are both solid options and are producing a similar base output. I’m going to run with Wallace and use the money saved elsewhere.
It’s hard to look past Simon Mannering ($9,100) who has been in great form and scoring very well. I’ll be looking at James Gavet ($4,600) for value since he’s made the starting side this week. James Fisher-Harris ($5,600) has returned from injury and has made the starting side; he should be able to prove his worth this week too. I also like the look of Ryan Hoffman ($6,600) as a mid-range option. He’s very consistent and doesn’t come with any risk.
I’m going to take the risk on Kieran Foran ($6,900) as my half. The top priced candidates haven’t been scoring well and I don’t want to risk such a big portion of my cap.
Ken Maumalo ($4,700) isn’t usually on my radar but I’ll throw him into my side due to the uncertainty of this match. Waqa Blake ($5,100) and Peta Hiku ($5,100) are also solid cheap options and could easily break the struggling Warriors’ defence. With all the money saved in other positions, I’ll take the gamble on Roger Tuivasa Sheck ($8,600) who may be in poor form but is capable of scoring a monster.
Storm v Titans
The top of the table Melbourne Storm should prove too good for the Gold Coast Titans. Both teams have shown good defence in recent times so it could be a low scoring affair.
Cameron Smith ($9,800) and Nathan Peats ($7,000) are the two hooker options but they’ll both bring quality to your Moneyball side. I’ll be running with Smith as he comes with goal kicking duties.
Ryan Simpkins ($4,000) remains the value option in the Titans side. He seems to be justifying his price so I’ll give him another shot this week. Tim Glasby ($5,700) and Jordan McLean ($5,500) are also good value picks and should be considered for your side. Ryan James ($9,200) has been in great form and I won’t mind forking out the big bucks for his services.
I’m going to take a punt on Ashley Taylor ($6,500) who has the goal kicking duties for the Titans. They’ve been in good form in recent weeks and I can see Taylor scoring well.
Anthony Don ($5,000) has impressed me lately but he’ll be the only Titans’ outside back I’ll consider. There’s no denying that Billy Slater ($7,200) has been the most impressive outside back and his stats definitely reflect that. I consider him a lock. I’ll also be taking a risk on Will Chambers ($7,400) who’ll be looking to impress Mal for Origin selection.
Sea Eagles v Broncos
This match should be the game of the round. Both Manly and Brisbane have been in good form so we’re in for a treat.
Andrew McCullough ($8,300) has been down on form lately but he’ll still be my hooker choice for round 10. It’s hard to ignore his impressive base output.
Martin Taupau ($8,700) has really impressed me recently so I’ll be paying the big bucks for his this week. Josh McGuire ($8,300) and Brenton Lawrence ($6,300) also need to be considered as they never fail to produce a high base output figure. I’ve struggled to find value from the forwards available we could take a risk on George Fai ($3,500). He’s made his way into the Broncos’ seventeen and comes with a bottom dollar price tag.
I’m planning on spending big in the forwards so I’ll be grabbing Kodi Nikorima ($4,200) as my half. He’s the cheapest of the starting halves yet managed to score better than the other candidates.
Both Tom Trbojevic ($10,200) and Dylan Walker ($8,300) have been scoring very well on a regular basis. I think they’re a little risky this week against a good defensive team in the Broncos. I’ll be looking more towards Corey Oates ($6,600) and Darius Boyd ($7,300). These two are highly involved in attacking plays and also produce a respectable base output. I may take the risk on Jordan Kahu ($5,500) as well. I think the Broncos can score a handful of tries and he comes with low risk due to his price.
