It’s another Saturday filled with our favourite game, if today is half as good as the two games we’ve already had in round 14 then we are truly in for a treat. The bye rounds are over, some teams are fresh off a bye some others not so much. Will we see anymore upsets or will we see a few demolitions, only time will tell. So here are our AFL fantasy tips for this Saturday Slam Special.
Patrick Ryder – $7,500
Ryder makes it hard for whatever ruckmen he finds himself against, with his exceptional vertical leap at the rucking contest it is hard to stop him from getting his hand to the ball, he is also one of the more capable ruckmen with ball in hand also, takes a good overhead mark and ventures forward to kick a goal or two, he is coming up against Grundy who is of the more mobile style of ruckmen we find in the game so Ryder should be getting most of his points via tap work.
Nick Robertson – $5,600
Robertson is slowly making a name for himself as a little speedy tough nut in and around the contest, whoever he is playing against he won’t be taking a backwards step which is what you want from a player. He is really finding his feet at AFL level in recent weeks with a 3 round average of 81FP, for somebody valued at 5.6k, you’d take that any day of the week.
Zaine Cordy – $5,100
Cordy has been one of the better performing Bulldogs players in recent weeks, it’s been a tough month or so for them and Cordy is one of the few who can hold his head high, he is really impressive in a one on one contest and rarely comes away from the contest without the ball, he can take a strong contested grab and also come in as the 3rd man to a contest, he’s probably coming off his best game ever last weekend after scoring 100FP, however it doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down to much against the Roos.
Scott Pendlebury – $10,500
The stage is set for Pendles to have a real big game this weekend, as they are facing off against Port Adelaide who can be quite up and down, if the Pies are to really make a play for finals this season, it is games like this that they really need to win and it all starts with their leader Pendlebury, the guy who seems to waltz in and out of a contest with such composure you’d never know theirs someone trying to tackle him.
Dylan Shiel – $8,800
Shiel is coming up against the Lions this weekend and with Josh Kelly already ruled out of the contest the chance for Shiel to go real big is primed and ready, not taking anything away from the Lions over recent weeks they have been much improved but with the depth and quality of the Giants, it’s hard not to see a dominant performance from them against the Lions.
Dom Sheed – $7,600
Now lets be honest here, not many people would have picked Sheed to completely break his game apart at this time of the year when the Eagles really needed someone to step up, not many would have said hey Sheed will be that guy, but he really has and it’s honestly too hard to leave him out of your lineup this weekend, coming up against a young but real competitive Demons side, will be looking forward to seeing Sheed continue his fine form, he has averaged 112FP over the last 3 weeks.
Mitch Honeychurch – $5,700
Honeychurch came into the Bulldogs side for his first game last weekend and produced a score of 78FP from his 20 disposal game, this is the sort of performance you can regularly expect from Honeychurch who is a forward player that runs through the middle to give the big named mids their rest, valued at 5.7k and will get you at least 70FP, I couldn’t pass him up.
Mitch Hannan – $5,100
I bring you another Mitch, this time of the Hannan variety, he featured in my article last weekend also as one of the forwards who can really gather a lot of the ball as that link player into the 50 and also kick a couple goals himself, he had a slow start to the season but the Demons really stuck with him and he is producing them some fine football in recent weeks. Averaging just shy of 72FP over the last 3, I expect the trend to continue as they try to take down the Eagles at Domain stadium.
