It’s now make or break if you want to feature in the grand final for 2017. Only one team will walk away from Adelaide glorious. Both teams are in form heading into the contest against each other but which game play will result in a victory? Plenty has been said from both sides into the lead up, with both teams making changes at the selection table. Toss a coin to see who wins this one. Without further ado here are my AFL fantasy tips:
Zac Smith $7,900
Coming off a good run of form into the clash with Adelaide, although it will be no easy task. Up against a prominent ruckman in Jacobs, the Cats big man will need to work hard. Averaging 32.3 hit outs, 14.9 disposals and 3.2 tackles he has been a positive player in the Geelong line-up for 2017. Expecting Smith not to dominate but edge the point scoring at the end of the game.
Darcy Lang $6,100
Although Lang has only had the one game back and Cockatoo has been selected to take the field. Lang has some special qualities to add to the Cats line-up and his inclusion adds another dynamic to the forward line. He hadn’t played since the early rounds but at $6,100 he is an absolute steal. He managed 24 disposals, 10 marks and 6 tackles in the game against the Swans, if that isn’t enough to convince you then nothing will.
Taylor Walker $7,200
Captain of the Adelaide Crows is setting himself to monster Friday night football. If he is able to lead hard up towards the football and his team mates provide good service, the rest will take care of itself. He has averaged 15 disposals, 6.3 marks and scored 50 goals in the regular season. His fight inside himself won’t want to go out easily, if anything he will go down swinging till the final siren.
Steven Motlop $6,200
Coming off a solid game against the Swans is good, but if you can’t back it up against the Crows this week then it becomes wasted. He seems to be flourishing in the absence of Guthrie but this won’t be the same type of game. His fast pace and generating ball possession are required for Geelong but his team mates around him need to make sure he gets a clear run at the football. Cheaply priced but the risk is each to their own.
Brad Crouch $9,600
The Crouch brothers have been emphatic this season for Adelaide, especially when the going got tough. He manages to find plenty of football but it’s the way he goes about it that inspires others around him. Averaging 27.9 disposals, 2.6 marks and 6.7 tackles this season, but it’s the tackling pressure he brings that will score plenty tonight. Tipping Matt Crouch and Sloane to be given plenty of attention so a lot of responsibility will fall to Brad.
Patrick Dangerfield $11,200
Whether it be up forward or through the midfield you can guarantee that Dangerfield will come to play. He can expect to be targeted right from the outset by his ex team mates but he can’t let the niggles take him away from his own game. The quality Dangerfield brings to the table will determine the whether the Cats are able to get the job done. Be wary of salary cap space as he is the highest priced player in the game tonight but his scoring could be the difference between a win.
Zach Tuohy $7,300
Since crossing over to the Cats from Carlton, Tuohy has been a remarkable acquisition. His running style game has been well utilised by Geelong and will be required against the Crows. He managed to 80.3Fp form in recent weeks which is important for a player only priced at $7,300. A certain selection in my eyes, with no lock down responsibilities down back for the night.
Rory Laird $8,900
Another heard running defender is Rory Laird. Much more higher priced than the other defensive choices but can be well worth the punt. He may not been in the greatest scoring form but can always step up in a big game. With Brodie Smith ruled out for the rest of the season the likes of Laird will be required to repel plenty of ball from the back line towards the forwards. He will need to work hard and hope that he isn’t dealt a defensive forward tag.
