The story of the first final for both of these teams took two completely different directions. On Friday night Geelong were shown that the Tigers had come to play as they were beaten to a pulp by 51 points. In contrast the Swans were the ones dominating at the SCG, coming away winners by 65 points over the Bombers. It’s now down to elimination finals from here onwards, so only one team will progress in 2017. AFL fantasy tips:
Zac Smith $7,700
Ruck stocks for both teams in tonight’s game are full of quality. There will be know clear winner until the game gets under way. Smith is reasonably priced considering the coverage he has around the ground. In 2017 he has averaged 14.6 disposals, 3.3 tackles and 32.3 hit outs. His form of 97.3Fp will be handy for any coach if he is to continue this scoring output.
Isaac Heeney $8,000
Young Swans forward Isaac Heeney has worked his way into a solid season after returning from injury early on. He has averaged 20.6 disposals, 5.1 marks and 4.7 tackles throughout the season, which highlights the intensity and work rate he has to offer. The Swans boast high intensity across the ground and Heeney certainly hasn’t let up at any point thus far in career.
Daniel Menzel $5,700
After missing the first final for the Cats due to omission, he will be out to prove that to have been a mistake. Menzel has been down on output for Geelong in 2017 due to various niggles and game continuity. Although if any player in finals has proven themselves for the Cats it has been the sneaky forward. A low price of $5,700 would tip me over the edge towards selecting Menzel to shine.
Luke Parker $9,400
Parker may not have started the season as well as he would have hoped, but he sure has exceeded expectations heading into this finals series. He managed to average 25.9 disposals, 3.7 marks and 5.6 tackles all while the Swans started 0-6. If anyone is ready for a big game against Geelong, my pick would be Luke Parker.
Jake Lloyd $8,000
An absolute midfield steal at the $8,000 price, Lloyd almost becomes a certain lock. Averaging 26.3 disposals and 6.1 marks for a player playing predominately across the back line is exclusive. He knows how to find the ball on the outside and certainly will be up for the contest tonight with their season being out on the line.
Mitch Duncan $10,200
One of the only Geelong players that could hold their head high after a disappointing first final. He managed 29 disposals and 11 tackles in a losing side against the Tigers. He is the second highest priced midfielder for the contest tonight, but well worth the risk in a game that will be fast paced with plenty of ball to be won across the ground.
Zak Jones $7,000
Running defender Zak Jones will be predominate in a contest such as this. The game style and play will suit his attributes down to a tee. Averaging 20.1 disposals, 4.8 marks and 3.5 tackles in a Swans defence riddles with talent is certainly not easy. The hard nut will be raring to go in the final and won’t be backing down from a hard ball get any time soon.
Zach Tuohy $7,300
Geelong are coming off a lacklustre performance to say the least against Richmond in the first week of finals. Tuohy has been a bright spark for the Cats in 2017 and will be disappointed in the team’s performance last week. Averaging 24.7 disposals and 4.6 marks as a defender for Geelong has been his hallmark on the season, proving where all this scoring has come from.
