Well what a match we have to celebrate Easter Monday! Age-old rivals Geelong come up against Hawthorn in what is set up to be a toss of the coin affair. Both teams look evenly poised to take out this one, with possibly Geelong the favourites after a gritty first round win. As always, Moneyball has you covered with a huge $10,000 GPP Contest. Sit back, relax and win some cash as you battle through your chocolate hangover watching this cracking match.
Luke Breust ($6,600)
Breust was instrumental in Hawthorn’s opening round win kicking 4 goals. Look for the small forward to be giving Cats defenders hell all day and will continue his good form to start the season. His price hasn’t really changed and I think he will hit some good value for your fantasy team.
Tom Hawkins ($7,300)
Hawkins is at the pricier end of the scale for your forwards but he is a proven performer in these big derby’s. After a quiet game against Melbourne, I’m backing him to bounce back with a big showing this week. If he can get an early goal or two I’d back him to kick a bag of them for the match.
Jaeger O’Meara ($6,300)
With some of the best midfielders in the game featuring here, I am going against the grain with this one and picking some young blood. O’Meara has been around a couple of years and had a great showing last week with 27 possessions and winning plenty of hard ball. At this price he looks a good option and leaves some salary space for one of the big boys in the midfield.
Joel Selwood ($7,600)
How this guy is this cheap is beyond me, but lets make the most of it! 39 disposals in the first round, he and and Ablett looked classes above at stages last week. If he can put up something even close to those numbers again you will be hitting value with him.
Honorable mention: Tom Mitchell – 54 disposals last week! Enough said.
James Sicily ($6,400)
Was one of the Hawks best last week and orchestrated a defensive plan which only allowed Collingwood 60 points. Look for him to have plenty of touches again and looks like a solid play for your lineup.
Tom Stewart ($5,800)
This is a small strategic move in recommending Stewart. A youngster in the Cats defensive line, Stewart is fast and can provide plenty of options coming out of defence. At this price he allows you to save some cash for a stronger midfield – which is where I think this match will be won or lost.
Either one of Ben McEvoy or Zac Smith ($8,000) are going to give you a similar output in this match. If anything I might lead towards Smith with Geelong’s midfielders helping him out all day.
