Russell Westbrook $12,200
Another good use of big dollars is to spend up on Westbrook against the Kings. We all know Russ doesn’t like to take it easy in any games, which usually means trying to pummel lesser squads like the Kings. He very rarely has a down game against a bad side, and he’ll no doubt be looking to triple-double in front of the home crowd vs Sacramento.
Chris Paul $8,400
James Harden is a GTD with knee soreness, so if he misses CP becomes an almost instant in. However, even if Harden does suit up, he may not be 100% which could mean Paul carries a heavier load. Especially against the Spurs, who have traditionally played a drop-back defence that will suit Paul. This may be the game where Paul shows the value he will bring against the defensive scheme that saw the Rockets flame out in 6 in last years playoffs.
Buddy Hield $5,700
Buddy Hield has had 28 and 37.8 in his last two games against the Thunder. Is that the beginning of a trend? We can’t be 100% sure, but it’s a fact I’m willing to bet on. Hield has had an up and down career, and his form lately has been no different. However, he has been putting in more regular performances, and six of his last ten have been above 25. Given this seems to be a matchup Hield likes, hopefully, we see another 25+ fantasy point performance today.
Giannis Antetokounmpo $12,000
The money-saving options are plentiful today, which means a sort of studs and duds approach for me. Because you’re saving money and getting value elsewhere, you can afford to put your dollars behind the big plays like the Greek Freak as well.
Justise Winslow $5,200
Justise has averaged 29.7 in his last 6 games, all while coming off the bench. He seems to have found a rhythm and a spot in the rotation playing around 30 minutes, despite not starting. Justise left the last game with a knee concern, but he seems all good to go today, so it doesn’t seem like that should be a worry for fantasy players.
Bam Adebayo $3,500
It may be a slightly risky proposition playing Adebayo based on his last four games. However, for the season he has been extremely impressive and his best games have more than warranted fantasy selection, particularly at this price. He will get the start today in Whiteside’s absence, and hopefully, he will see big minutes against the Blazers, If he does, the fantasy rewards could be sky high. Alternatively. Kelly Olynyk is the much safer option, and is probably better served in cash games,
Davis Bertans $4,100
Bertans probably won’t knock your socks off today, but if you are happy with a return around 20 or so from an almost minimum player, then he’s the guy for you. With Aldridge out, he should hopefully soak up a lot of those minutes, and with minutes he’s usually a fairly consistent performer. At this point, the Spurs don’t have a lot of other options.
Pau Gasol $6,400
With LaMarcus Aldridge out, the Spurs barely have a consistent scorer they can rely on. As a result, it seems likely that they may need to lean on the old hand of Pau Gasol. He isn’t capable of consistently performing, but he is coming off a lighter load over the last 3 games and he has two scores of 50 in his last ten games. Let’s hope he can get another.
