Round 23 kicks off with the Brisbane Broncos hosting the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The Broncos will be fighting to stay in the top eight but I think the Bunnies will walk away with the two points.
We need to ask ourselves whether Damien Cook ($11,300) is worth his expensive price tag. I’m going to distribute my cap more evenly and run with Andrew McCullough ($7,300) as my hooker.
This should be a low scoring contest so I won’t mind forking out for some good forwards. Tevita Pangai Junior ($7,600) returns to the starting side but be wary that he’s carrying a niggling injury. Matthew Lodge ($7,800) has been very impressive in recent weeks so he’ll be my first picked forward. Josh McGuire ($7,000) will be looking for a big performance after missing last week’s match, while George Burgess ($5,800) could be the mid-ranger you’re looking for if consistency if what you’re after. Patrick Mago ($3,500) may be playing from the interchange but he seems to be the superior choice outside of the starters.
It won’t surprise me at all if none of the starting halves justify their worth during this contest. I’m going to run with Anthony Milford ($6,500) simply due to being the cheapest candidate who plays for the home team.
It may be beneficial to run with either the cheapest of the candidates or the options that produce the better base output. Tyrell Fuimaono ($4,700) has come into the side this week and will line up in the centres. Jordan Kahu ($4,400) will also line up at centre and has the added bonus of the goal kicking duties for the Broncos. I’m going to ignore the more expensive choices and choose Hymel Hunt ($4,700) as my final choice.
