NBA $8,000 Saturday Special
Today’s seven-game slate is expected to be extremely high scoring. Four of seven games are expected to break 220 total points and the Minnesota vs Sacramento game could break 230. There’s also not a lot of blowout potential, which hopefully means the games stay close. There’s nothing worse as a fantasy player than seeing your guy sit out the fourth. With all of that in mind, today’s a great day for daily fantasy. Be sure to set your lineup in today’s Saturday Special for the chance to take your share of the $8,000 prize pool.
Derrick Rose $6,300
Derrick Rose is one of the stories of the season so far. The former MVP is back to averaging 18.6 points and 4.6 assists per game in only 29 minutes. With Jeff Teague out, Rose continues to impress and last game he broke a Timberwolves record, shooting ⅞ from three on his way to 31 points. Who would have thought Rose would ever hold a three-point record? But he does now. He’s making 46% of his threes this season on 3.5 attempts a game and not only has it increased his efficiency, it’s opened up his driving game. Rose is a great look today as with Teague out, he’s likely to play 30+ minutes which gives him every opportunity to return a great fantasy score.
De’Aaron Fox $7,700
De’Aron Fox is one of the breakout candidates of the season so far, averaging 18.7 points and 7.3 assists on the season. He’s shooting 50% from the field, 37.5% from three and his coast-to-coast game has been out of this world. Fox has had 45 and 45.9 in his last two games and he has a decent matchup today against the Timberwolves who have have well-documented deficiencies on defense.
Wayne Ellington $4,100
The list of outs for Miami has opened the door for Wayne Ellington. This is a definite risky play given Ellington’s returns this season, but in his last game he played 37 minutes and had 30.3 fantasy points. Ellington is projected to start today, which means he’s definitely worth a swing in the $8,000 Saturday Special.
Rodney McGruder $5,200
Rodney McGruder has been great this season, he’s most of the reason why Ellington has been worked out of a rotation spot. But today there’s enough opportunity for both of these guys to thrive. McGruder is the much more reliable option, better for cash games. He consistently provides good value and today against a good matchup with a skeleton crew of a team he seems extremely likely to return another nice fantasy score.
Justise Winslow $5,900
The Heat players will stop eventually, I promise. But Justise Winslow might be the best of the bunch. He’s averaging 33.4 over his last three games and his price hasn’t adjusted accordingly. At his current price he’s returning a strong 5X return that you just can’t ignore in any fantasy format.
Bojan Bogdanovic $4,700
Bojan Bogdanovic is underpriced, it’s as simple as that. He’s had his inconsistencies but over the last 3 games he’s averaging 25.5 fantasy points. That’s about exactly where he should be. While Bogdanovic is under $5K he makes a great fantasy option in all formats.
Domantas Sabonis $6,800
Domantas Sabonis has been a revelation lately. He’s slowly earning more minutes, playing 30+ in each of the last two. In those games he’s returned 33.1 and 35.7 fantasy points. Sabonis is slightly underpriced based on his current role and production, which makes him a great fantasy play.
Joel Embiid $11,000
This one feels more risky in cash games, but in tournament games Embiid is a smart investment. Embiid has scored over 60 five times this season and he’s only fallen as low as 38. That’s a great floor/high ceiling play and after a couple of slow games Embiid is due to bounce back to his best form.
