NBA $8,000 Saturday Special

What better way to start your weekend than with a massive ten-game NBA slate and $8,000 of prizes up for grabs in the NBA $8,000 Saturday Special. There’s a lot of value to be had in the middle price ranges today which should make crafting a high-scoring fantasy team just that little bit easier. If you need help beating the 11:00am lockout, this is a good place to start.

Point Guard

Jamal Murray $7,700

Jamal Murray has had a 27.5% usage rate over his last 6 games and he has played in the high 30’s or low 40’s in minutes every game as well. In his last game that culminated in 49.8 fantasy points against the Magic and I expect a similar performance today against Charlotte.

Elie Okobo $4,400

Elie Okobo was one of my favourite prospects in this years draft and it’s great to see him getting this type of opportunity. Devin Booker is out and Okobo is getting the start and playing close to 30 minutes. Okobo has had double digit field goal attempts in 3 of his last 5 games, which gives him great fantasy upside at his low price.

 Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan $8,600

It’s probably an understatement to say that DeMar DeRozan likes playing against the Lakers, in his three games this season he has had 63.8, 61.4, and 48.9 fantasy point performances In their last game he also played 41 minutes and had a usage of 32.7% – all signs that bode well for a massive fantasy output against a poor defensive opposition.

Buddy Hield $6,500

Buddy Hield almost went under my radar in today’s slate, but I expect a strong showing from him against the Cavs. He’s had a couple of quiet games recently which may put some players off, but his last two games have been good and the matchup against the Cavs is great. The Cavs concede as many fantasy points as anyone at shooting guard which gives Buddy a great opportunity to continue his most recent form and provide a strong output for fantasy players.

Small Forward

Paul George $9,300

Paul George is in some incredible form. Outside of a few recent blowouts. His fantasy scores have been enormous. He had 72 in his last game and today has an incredible matchup against the Chicago Bulls who struggle very heavily against forwards, especially those of George’s calibre.

Kevin Durant $10,600

This one comes a little bit out of left field, but I have a feeling KD has a big one today against the Bucks. KD doesn’t often have a lot to play for, but against the MVP front runner and in a game that will receive a lot of national attention, Durant has a lot to play for in showing that he’s still one of the best players in the world. He won’t want to be shown up by the Greek Freak, he will want to do the showing, so at this price there’s a lot of fantasy potential for him.

Power Forward

Bam Adebayo $5,800

Bam Adebayo will get the start as Hassan Whiteside stays home for the potential birth of his child. It’s interesting timing given the recent controversy surrounding Whiteside, but it’s great timing for Bam.The last time he started he had 34.1 and 30+ minutes he had 50.7. Bam has huge fantasy potential and it will most likely be e a big mistake if you don’t give him a run in both fantasy performances.

Mike Muscala $4,500

Muscula has proven to be very important for the Sixers, averaging 27 minutes across their last four games. In those four games he has averaged 25 fantasy points per game, mostly coming off the bench. With Joel Embiid missing today’s game for rest purposes, Muscula will start and the chances of him exceeding his recent performances seems high. As a result, Muscula is a great play in both fantasy formats and should be heavily considered as your centre option in today’s Saturday Special.
