The BBL finals have finally arrived with the league-topping Hurricanes hosting the Melbourne Stars on Thursday night. It’s been a season of ups and downs for the Stars who got off to relatively slow start but have found their groove at the right time thanks to the return of some of their international big names. The Hurricanes have had no issues throughout their campaign winning most of their games comfortably and looking like the team to beat leading into the finals. We all know that the regular season means nothing once the finals roll around and anyone can beat anyone on their day. With that being said lets take a look at some of the top picks for Moneyball’s $2,500 Semi Final Special.

D’arcy Short ($10,200) – AR

Short is a big-game player and is coming off a rare poor performance last week. We all know the ability he has to go large with the bat so I am backing him to bounce back and will play a huge role if the ‘canes are to come out on top. He again topped the run scorer charts and has solidified his reputation as one of the top T20 batsmen in the country.

Sandeep Lamichhane ($6,400) – BWL

The young-gun spinner has only played the 6 matches for the Stars (after heading to the Bangladesh Premier League mid season) but has been bowling extremely well. He’s coming into this match after taking 3-11 against the Sixers and an economy rate of 6.83 throughout the season. It’s going to be a tough ask against the Hurricanes batsmen but Lamichanne has the talent to win this match for the Stars.

Jofra Archer ($7,000) – BWL

Speaking of big-game players, there’s no one that loves centre stage than this guy. He has had a relatively quiet BBL compared to past seasons but has been going about his business quite well. He’s take 17 wickets this season at an economy rate of just under 8. In a team where batting has been the dominant force, look for Archer to stand up for the Hurricanes’ bowling brigade.

Glenn Maxwell ($9,300) – AR

Hard to leave The Big Show out of this tips article. Coming off a blistering 82 off 43 against the Sixers earlier this week paired with the power and range of shots we know he has in his repertoire, it’s hard to ignore Maxy in this contest. He can also chime in with some economical mid-innings overs and looks one of the top picks for your line-up!
