The opening match of AFL 2019 Season sees the young Blues taking on the heavily favoured Richmond Tigers. Since the introduction of this matchup to start the AFL season, Richmond have won every matchup between theses two.

Kade Simpson @ 7,900 – Simpson is the safest defender with 28 disposals and 5 marks in the last JLT match and average 95 last year. Should have plenty of touches back there and should have the ability to score well

Brandon Ellis @ 6,600 – Ellis during the first JLT match played a lot of time of the wing where he averaged close to 100 a few years ago. Its interesting play, didn’t show a lot in the first JLT but does have the ability to score.

Patrick Cripps @ 10,100 – Cripps just looks so much bigger, stronger then his fellow midfielders and could bring his form from the JLT and AFL X into the first round. 2 goals and 28.5 disposal average for his JLT.

Sam Walsh @ 6,000 – The number 1 pick from last year and doesn’t he look like an exciting player and has plenty of scoring potential. Averaging 25 disposals and 91 fantasy points, priced a 6k. lock and load for me.

Other options

Jack Higgins @ 5,500 – Very impressive in the second JLT played that high half forward role and pinched hit in the midfield to score 103 but did need 3 goals to put that score on the board. A unique option.

Will Setterfield @ 4,200 – This young exciting midfielder made his way to Carlton from GWS over the offseason. Averaging 76 throughout the JLT, averaging 6 tackles which is really good sign for any young player.

Toby Nankerivs @ 7,600 – Should be the safest ruckman for this matchup. Whether he goes up again Kreuzer or Phillips should dominate and outscore the pair. With rule changes to taking the ball out ruck, should give Nankerivs more opportunity to score.

Charlie Curnow @ 6,000 – Started the season well last year in this matchup kicking 5 goals and scoring 115. Could do it again, be an interesting play.

Tom Lynch @ 5,500 – If he plays and is fit, he should be way to good for a young Carlton defence. Kicking 8 goals and scoring 139 points the last time he played Carlton. He is now at a club that will give more opportunity to score.

Zac Fisher @ 5,400 – His role is everything, if he gets the opportunity to play in the midfield having 26 disposals and 96 fantasy points in the first round of the JLT. If he can match that performance should be a good pick for that price.
