We are kicking off the finals series for 2017 now the regular season is done and dusted. No one knows that the finals will bring us this year but we can guarantee it will bring plenty of action. Two teams who have equal rights to be crowned the premiers of 2017 will battle it out in Adelaide but only one team can leave the ground as a winner. Try separate the two tonight, it won’t be an easy decision that’s for sure. Here are my AFL fantasy tips:
Sam Jacobs $8,900
The ruck battle could prove to be pivotal for either side to get on top of the midfield battle. If Jacobs can get on top of the ruck contest and give his team mates first use the Crows will be hard to stop. Both ruckman are able to push forward and kick goals, but Jacobs will need to match Mumford in tackling and ball pressure. Averaging a massive 40.1 hit outs he will be worth the price tag.
Toby Greene $8,400
Labelled the bad guy of football has done nothing more than spur Greene to prove the haters wrong. He has taken every opportunity thrown his way and he lives for finals action. Greene has managed 41 goals and an average of 18.4 disposals, 5.9 marks this season, needing every bit of these stats to dominate the forward line. He will be a player hard to stop in the GWS and unsuccessful could prove very costly.
Taylor Walker $7,400
A captains performance could definitely be needed if the Crows are to claim their home ground dominance. They can’t afford for Phil Davis to get on top, starving the big key forward any service. He has averaged 15.3 disposals and 6.3 marks with 49 goals throughout 2017 but this could be his biggest game yet for the year. Let’s see the mullet control the footy.
Hugh Greenwood $6,500
Young Adelaide midfielder Greenwood has certainly taken the challenge of senior footy with both hands. He hasn’t put a foot wrong this season and coming of a rest last week he should be raring to go. A midfielder priced at $6,500 who has averaged 7.2 tackles perfectly for a finals clash with plenty of balls to be won. He may be young but Greenwood is definitely one player ready for finals.
Matt Crouch $10,000
With Rory Sloane ruled out with illness, the midfield opens up for the Crouch brothers to rule the roost. Although one of the more expensive options, he is well worth the risk. Averaging 34 disposals and 4.6 tackles this year, finding plenty of contested ball for the Crows. I can’t see the Crows winning if either on of the Crouch brothers, if not both dominate the contest.
Joshua Kelly $10,400
Prize recruit Josh Kelly has proven to many teams and fans alike what he has offer in years to come. If the rumours of his greatness are anything to go by then finals is where he needs to set the stage and perform where it counts. The most expensive midfielder has averaged 39.2 disposals and 6.3 disposals with 18 goals in 2017. All his games this year has lead to this moment. Game on for the quality midfielder with all eyes on him.
Zac Williams $7,600
A game that more than likely be played with plenty of run and gun will suit both teams out of defence perfectly. Williams has averaged 22.8 disposals, 13.4 in which come from kicks. The Giants don’t rely on Shaw as much as previous seasons, so plenty more responsibility has fallen to the likes of Williams, Wilson and Haynes which is perfect for finals football.
Rory Laird $9,00
Another player ready to unleash his running game is Rory Laid. The Adelaide Crows will need to move someone to Laird or Smith to negate their running game if they are to win at home. Rory Laird has proven this season that he has the capabilities to break a game wide open and deliver key touches that his side needs. He has averaged 30.1 disposals this season and will need to utilise every one of them.
