NBA $4,000 Thursday Special

It may not be as big as most Thursday’s, but today’s 6-game slate still has a lot to offer, including $4,000 worth of prizes in today’s Thursday Special. If you’re looking for some NBA DFS tips to help get your team in before the 10:10am (AEST) lockout, then the BKN @ OKC game is the game to target.

Point Guard

Stephen Curry $9,200

Kevin Durant will miss today’s game with an ankle concern. Usually, that means the other stars on the Warriors have to pick up the slack. The Warriors will be hoping to take a game from the Warriors this season, having so far lost 3 from 3. In the last game against the Rockets, Curry scored 46.3 fantasy points playing alongside Kevin Durant. Without Durant, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he scored a dozen more.

Russell Westbrook $11,700

I’m really loading up at point guard today because that’s where I see the superstar value. The Brooklyn Nets also provide a great matchup for Westbrook and a good number of his teammates. The game is expected to be fast, with a projected total over 230. This makes it a good matchup for a number of OKC/BKN players, but especially for Westbrook who we know is a menace in a free-flowing and fast-paced game. In his last game against the Nets, Westbrook had 65.5 fantasy points. Coming off two big 50+ fantasy point games, there’s a lot of upside and not a lot of downside with Westbrook today.

Shooting Guard

Andre Iguodala $4,600

Andre Iguodala is another Warrior who should get a nice bump with Kevin Durant missing today’s game. Playing against the Rockets Iggy’s defense and veteran presence will be needed if Golden State hopes to get one back.

Dennis Schroder $5,600

Dennis Schroder has been in really good form over the last five games, including a 35.9 fantasy point performance in his most recent contest. Schroder has played over 30 minutes in his last two games and will have every opportunity to produce a big score today against the Nets in what’s expected to be the days highest scoring game.

Small Forward

Joe Harris $4,800

As I said, this game is expected to be high scoring, so loading up on players in this contest is a sound strategy in a small 6-game slate. Harris hasn’t been in the best form of late, but at his current price, he shouldn’t hurt the bank. He has a reasonably high floor – between 15-20 – but his upside is somewhere in the 30’s. If his shot starts failing Harris should provide a very strong fantasy return.

Jabari Parker $6,100

Jabari Parker has averaged over 30.1 fantasy points over his last 5 games in Chicago. He has also played only 25 minutes per game, so he’s going at a very strong fantasy point per minute rate. Parker has a tough matchup today against the Magic, who have been surprisingly good against opposition forwards. However, I believe Jabari will still be able to provide a solid return on his minutes and given his middling salary he’s a fairly low-risk play.

Power Forward

Draymond Green $6,900

Without Kevin Durant, Draymond Green should see a bump in usage and production. He also has the added advantage of having a fairly nice matchup. The Rockets defense has picked up at late, but Draymond has a particular set of skills that usually gives them problems. He left early with an ankle in their last meeting, but in the game before that he had 42.2 fantasy points. I expect a reasonably similar return from Green today if the Warriors have any chance of ending the Rockets 9-game winning streak.

Steven Adams $7,200

Steven Adams has one of the best matchups in basketball today with a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets give up over 60 fantasy points per game to opposition centres and Adams has taken advantage in his recent matchups with 33.6 fantasy points in their last meeting. I expect a very similar return from Adams today considering it’s the days highest paced game. There should be plenty of rebounds and plenty of points for Adams to claim and the fantasy points will follow.
