The final day of the NBA season is here and it might be the most interesting final day in recent memory. Seeds 6-8 are still up for grabs in the East, while seeds 2-8 in the West are hinging on today’s results. A number of playoff teams have also made interesting decisions to sit their guys, which not only makes for interesting discussion, but will play a pivotal role in the final day of regular season fantasy basketball.

Point Guard

Seth Curry $4,300

The Portland Trail Blazers have made a lineup decisions today with very big playoff implications. They’ve decided to sit CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard, seemingly signalling that they won’t be fighting for the third seed. A win today (provided Denver also wins) would have seen them jump the Rockets thanks to a tie breaker, so the fact they have sat their best players makes it seem like they are avoiding the 3/6 matchup and potentially OKC. It’s a very interesting decision for the playoff picture, but in a more immediate sense it will have some fantasy implications today.

With the Blazers two best players and two starting guard options not playing today, Seth Curry will slide into the starting lineup. Curry has good form, coming off 30.9 fantasy points in 27 minutes and a repeat performance seems very likely with the added responsibilities in Lillard and McCollum’s absence.

T.J. McConnell $3,700

Just like Seth Curry, T.J. McConnell will be given a massive boost today with the Sixers resting all of their key players. Interestingly, T.J. is probably the only player from their likely playoff rotation that is playing today, with Simmons, Embiid, Butler, Redick, Harris and even Bolden missing time. McConnell has proven over his career that he’s a capable player when given the chance, so at the minimum salary this one looks like a no-brainer.

Shooting Guard

Grayson Allen $3,500

I’ve caught Grayson Allen in a few games lately and he’s looked really good. I was a fan of his at draft time and his feel for the game and IQ continues to stand out. He knows how to get his shot and his shake off the dribble has only improved since college. While he hasn’t had the opportunity in the last two games, the two before that saw him score 15.6 and 26 fantasy points in just 18.6 and 26.4 minutes. With the Jazz sitting all of their players today, Grayson Allen should have plenty of opportunity to prove his worth. He has all of the tools to make the most of it, so he should produce a great fantasy return today.

Jeremy Lamb $6,700

Jeremy Lamb is about the only selection today that’s made on form and not because the team is sitting all of their regular starters. With a win today the Hornets will keep their playoff hopes alive, so their key players like Jeremy Lamb will be counted upon to produce. Lamb has been one of the catalysts to their playoff fight over their four game win streak, averaging 41 fantasy points per game over his last three games. With their playoff life on the line, Lamb has plenty to play for, so it’s my prediction that he will come through for the Hornets and fantasy players alike.

Small Forward

Moe Harkless $4,900

Moe Harkless is one of the Blazers most important players, but apparently he’s not important enough to sit today. With both Lillard and McCollum out, Harkless just might be the Blazers best player today. With more opportunity in today’s game it will be interesting to see just how high his ceiling might be. Harkless had 47.6 in his last game and hit the game winner. He consistently produces fantasy scores over 30 and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the type of return fantasy players see from him today.

Jonathon Simmons $3,700

Jonathon Simmons made his return to the Sixers rotation in the last game and didn’t waste any time impressing fantasy players. He had 35.4 fantasy points in 26 minutes against good opposition (Miami). Today he will play against the Bulls, and as mentioned earlier the Sixers will be sitting all of their key players. This means Simmons will start and it seems very likely that he will grab the opportunity with both hands.

Power Forward

D.J. Wilson $4,300

The Bucks have secured the first seed in the East and are resting up for their playoff push. In doing so they have sat key guys like Giannis and Lopez, which means more minutes for young guys like D.J. Wilson. Wilson will start at centre today and should see big minutes with both Lopez and Giannis out (as those two guys see most of the centre minutes). Wilson has had 26.9 and 15.4 in his last two starts, so hopefully he can post something in the high 20’s again today.

Boban Marjanovic $3,700

Big Bobi is one of the Sixers fan favourites and they’ll have plenty to cheer about today when he gets the start for the Sixers. Boban has scored 26 and 19.9 in his last two games despite only playing 19.7 and 10.2 minutes. Today he is projected to play 20+ minutes, so if his per minute fantasy production is anything to go by, the fantasy returns could be great for fantasy players today.
