Another $5,000 is up for grabs today as the Titans play the Cowboys. The Cowboys will be looking to extend their winning streak to 3 games whilst the Titans will be eager to build on their upset win over Manly last week. Neither of these teams are missing a large volume of players due to Origin but both teams are without key players.
I think Mitch Rein ($7,200) is worth spending up for today. The fact that he plays 80 minutes means that he has a higher floor than Granville does. It is however worth noting that Granville does have a lot of upside due to his strong running game and he has being playing big mintes for the cowboys recently.
Jason Taumalolo ($10,100) is a no brainer today. There are plenty of cheaper players in the slate and that means it’s easy to fit him into your teams this week. The Titans are also without Arrow and James today and therefore Taumalolo should be able to run for plenty of metres through the middle of the field. Another player that will benefit from the depleted titans pack is Jordan McLean ($7,700). McLean has been solid so far this year and has been playing big minutes in the middle of the field. The absence of Matt Scott may also increase his work rate today. Moeaki Fotuaika ($5,700) has been returning value in his salary for the last few weeks. Last week he scored 35 fantasy points and given the fact that he starts again today, he is a solid option. Scott Bolton ($5,600) moves into the starting side due to Matt Scott being out. Bolton has scored over 20 points in all but 1 game this year and should be able to build off this floor given he will play extra minutes this round.
I am favouring the Titans halves today given the fact that they are the established first grade halves. Of the 2 titans halves my preference is Ashley Taylor ($5,800). Taylor has struggled with form over the last year but has strung a few good games together in recent weeks. I expect him to play with plenty of confidence and hopefully return to the level of play we know that he is capable of. It is worth mentioning that although Tyrone Roberts ($6,000) has not been consistent this year, he is capable of accruing a huge fantasy score. Last week he posted 66.7 points and has also scored a 47.5 points. He is very risky but does have the capacity to produce a high fantasy score on his day.
Brian Kelly ($6,800) has bounced back from a run of quiet games with 2 solid performances over the last 2 rounds. Kelly has set up 3 tries in the last 2 games and has posted scores of 34.3 and 41.1 without crossing the line for a try. The Cowboys have been forced to make some changes to their edge defence this week so I think he is a solid play today. Alexander Brimson ($6,300) has posted some consistent scores since sloting into the starting team. He has looked a lot more comfortable in his role in recent weeks and I think he is going t have a big game sometime in the next few weeks. Mitchell Dunn ($4,000) has had some handy involvements for the Cowboys in recent weeks. I expect him to be a focal point of their attack tonight given Morgan is out with Origin duties. Dunn is a handy ball payer as well as runner so I expect cowboys to target his side of the field and rely on him to create some opportunities for them.
