With the future of Paul Pogba with Manchester United in question, the Red Devils are already looking for a potential replacement in the midfield. They are very interested in acquiring the prodigious talent Jadon Sancho from the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has been playing phenomenally for Dortmund this season. He has found the perfect balance between scoring goals and orchestrating the offence for his teammates. At the moment, he has scored 14 goals and has dished out 15 assists this season.
His performance this season has been astonishing. It is also notable to say that Sancho is just 20 years old and is performing like one of the best players in the world.
It is not surprising that Sancho has been chosen by United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær as a top priority in the offseason transfer window. Sancho would fit well with players like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the offensive end.
Former player Owen Hargreaves has said that United would be the perfect match for Sancho. He said, ‘It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. If you can have a Jadon Sancho – they need a right-winger – Sancho playing off the right would make a huge difference’.
United will have to pay more than £100 million but it has been said that Sancho and Dortmund have mutually agreed to part ways after this Bundesliga season. Sancho is expected to sign with the Red Devils even if Chelsea has been involved in the discussion. Chelsea is also willing to pay the massive transfer fee to power their offence.
Liverpool is also interested in signing the young star, but manager Jürgen Klopp is hesitant. His hesitation is warranted because they might have to spend a lot of money to sign him but he might not even play in Liverpool’s starting lineup. Klopp has also said that RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is his priority during the transfer window, so a move to Liverpool for Sancho is not likely.
Premier League teams are not the only contenders in signing the English prodigy. They also have competition from the top ranks of France, with Paris Saint-Germain showing interest. PSG is set to lose star Neymar to Barcelona and possibly Kylian Mbappe during the offseason.
This is why they are testing the waters of prospects during the offseason. Neymar and Mbappe are the main offensive stars of PSG, and bringing in Sancho would serve as a perfect replacement for both stars.
All things considered, Manchester United is still the favourite in signing Sancho. They can provide him with a large contract, a better fit, and a promise of playing time. It is not hard to see why the Red Devils management is confident that they will sign the budding superstar.
It will not be surprising to see if the Red Devils compete with Liverpool as the best team in England next season.
