There has been a lot of questions about this year’s Premier League season, a lot of fans are concerned about the health of the team. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that this year’s season is postponed. The governing bodies of the league unanimously decided to suspend Premier League and will possibly resume on April 4.
While Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta and Chelsea striker Callum Hudson-Odoi are tested positive for COVID-19, an unnamed Everton player and three Leicester first-team players are in self-isolation.
Up to this point, there is no certainty if the league will resume on April 4 or not. According to several news sites, there is a big possibility that the game will be played in empty stadiums.
For the second time, the officials from all of the 20 clubs will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday to plan for the remainder of the season. However, some speculations say that there is still a 75% chance that this year’s season will not be completed.
Aside from planning for the remainder of this season, the clubs will also discuss the detailed financial support scheme to all clubs affected by this outbreak.
Liverpool centre Virgil van Dijk told that no one wants to play the game without the fans. Honestly, if ever all of the leagues worldwide resume amidst coronavirus outbreak and insisted to play in empty stadiums, it might be considered as the world’s dull moments in the history of sports.
‘If we won it in an empty stadium and the fans weren’t there, I’d be gutted for them. Obviously, if there are no fans at Anfield, then it will be a bit of a blow’, Van Dijk stated.

‘There is no dodging the possibility that all levels in the EFL, as well as the Premier League, will have to be cancelled and this season declared null and void because if the players can’t play, the games can’t go ahead’, West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady said.
‘So what if the league cannot be finished? As games in both the PL and in the EFL are affected, the only fair and reasonable thing to do is declare the whole season null and void’, she added.
This being said, the most glaring issue with the ‘null and void’ option puts Liverpool at a disadvantage. Van Dijk also stated that it would be a waste if the fan can’t watch the squad to win the league title for the first time in 30 years.
There are also some speculations that the new Premier League season will start with 22 clubs, promoting West Bromwich Albion FC and Leeds United FC at the current crop of 20. On the flip side, the committee will need to work on the new calendar for a possible earlier start.
Gameweek 32 matches are scheduled to be played on April 4, 5, and 6 while the Gameweek 38 is said to be played on May 17.
